Juho started racing long distance sled dog races back in 2008 when he was working as a handler for Yukon Quest musher and now also champion Hugh Neff. First race was GinGin 200 in Denali, Alaska. Brutal cold 200 mile race was one of the coldest races in history with temperatures dropping to nearly 50 below. After fighting against harsh conditions with his yearling team for bit more than 2 days he finished the race with all 10 dogs in team! Rookie musher did spend lot of time on the trail, in fact so much that he crossed the finish line as a last musher- but one happy last musher.
After Gingin the road has taken Juho and his team to several long distance races in Yukon CA, Norway and Sweden. Best results have been tenth place in YukonQuest 300/ 2009, seventh in Femundlopet 400/ 2010 and Winner of the Amundsenrace 2011! Most races in Scandinavia were done with dogs from the Finnish musher Aki Holck including Finnmarkslopet 500- the race that Juho personally ranks the highest of all in Europe. 2013 and 14 Juho raced Pasviktrail with a team mixed with our own dogs and Mr.Holck dogs placing 10th in both races.
Our team is now relatively young and is getting built for the races to come. In March 2016 our young team did Tobaccotrail 322km in Northern Sweden finishing in 6th place. For 2017 we are aiming for Finnmarkslopet 500 and for 2018 Bergenylopet 650km. When we have 14 top class athletes on the yard we will participate in Finnmarkslöpet 1000km and the Ultimate goal is Yukon Quest, a thousand mile race trough arctic wilderness from Whitehorse Yukon to Fairbanks Alaska.
